Photoshop Workshop 3- Contrast and Brightness

If the picture that you have took is to dark then you have to change the contrast and brightness of a picture you do this by clicking on image at the top then adjustments then either brightness/contrast or level. 

     If you use brightness/contrast then you just have to slide the bar till the brightness and contrast are right on the picture.











To change the brightness and contrast through levels you have to move the pointers at the bottom so that the one on the left is where the black starts and the one on the right is where it finishes and the one in the  middle can be anywhere so that the pictures brightness and contrast are how you want it.

Photoshop Workshop 2- Adding Pictures

To add a picture to the new page you have to open them in photoshop first then all you have to do is click and drag the image onto the new sheet.

To set up a new page you have to go on file new. When the box comes up you then have to make sure its on international paper and change the page size to A4 then click ok.

Photoshop Workshop 1- Saving the Picture

When saving the file you have to go to file save as.


When you have clicked on this a box will come up to change the settings then you have to choose the file type you want to save it as. The three main file types are:
  • Jpeg is a good way of saving test prints and experiments as it is quite a small file size as it gets compressed also it can be used on any computer.
  • TIFF is good because it doesn't compress your file so it keeps the quality of the file and it can be used on any computer.
  • Photoshop is the other good one because it also doesn't compress the file so it keeps the quality but it doesn't work on all computers.

Photoshop Workshop 1- Renaming a File

To rename a file all you have to do is double click on the old file name until the box around the writing changes so you can rename it and when you have changed the name all you have to do is press enter.

Photoshop Workshop 1- Resolution

For your resolution if you are printing a test/experiment picture the should be about 72 but when printing your final picture for your portfolio then it should be about 300 but no more as if it goes higher then 300 the file size will be massive and it will take to long to edit the smallest thing.
